We hope that you enjoy this home as much as we have over the last (almost) twenty years. We moved here when the oldest of our four children was 9 years old and our youngest was just 2. They grew up here and we have very fond memories of the various stages of their lives and how comfortable living here has been. When they were little they loved playing in the pool, and as they grew older they and their friends loved having pool parties. The pool & BBQ areas became the centre of family activities for many years. Little extras in the home such as the large spa bath, the solar-heated pool, and Vergola covered outdoor entertaining area have made the house great fun to live in.
The house provided plenty of room for each of the kids to have their own rooms to be able to grow up in and have their own space for study, rest & play. The security system with sensors on door & windows meant safety was assured and we always felt they were safe anywhere in the house.
As youngsters they could leave their toys and ‘construction’ projects set up in the rumpus room and it wouldn’t impact our day-to-day living in the family room. There was no need to pack up each night. As the children grew they would have their friends over and have movie marathons downstairs, go into the pool for a dip, dry off while they ate a barbeque downstairs, play some billiards, table-tennis, foozeball or play in the park across the road. Upstairs for the rest of the family would remain blissfully quiet.
We had all of the children’s 18th and 21st birthday parties in this house. It’s a great house for entertaining large crowds with space upstairs in the lounge room and family room, with an easy flow to the veranda. Downstairs the parties continued to flow from the rumpus room to the outdoors and into the games room. It has been fantastic that we have been able to have the children’s friends at our house – providing us with the opportunity to get to know them.
The lounge and dining rooms have always been where family and friends gather for big celebrations like Christmas and birthdays. It’s great to have a separate quiet place in the house to retreat to when the rest of the house is full of people. We have been able to accommodate more than 20 family members at the house for these events – the 4 bathrooms, large number of bedrooms & multiple living areas have meant that this can be achieved with relative comfort.
The house is in a great location with easy access to multiple roads and cycle-ways. The children were in child care at local facilities, and have always caught buses to school, with two bus stops within 5 minutes’ walk. As a family we would walk or cycle around Lake Tuggeranong and from the house we can walk to the Monash shops, Erindale or the Hyperdome. The park across the road has been the scene of many a football match, cricket game and some hard-fought boules competitions.
With Erindale, the Hyperdome and Wanniassa shops, all within a few minutes’ drive, the house is well served for shops and other amenities. We’ve found that Erindale has a great range of restaurants with choices including Italian, Turkish, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Schnitzel, and a lot of the major fast food chains so the choices for Friday night takeaway were many and varied!
It is with some sadness that we are selling the house, but with only one child still living at home and our plans to move down to the coast, we have decided that now is the time to downsize. We hope that you make as many happy memories in this terrific family home as we have.
